It's been a long time coming, but I wanted to thank all the faithful Bamboo Girl Zine readers and friends for helping me build, network, and dialogue within our communities dealing with racism, sexism and homophobia for the 10 years that Bamboo Girl has been active! That's a mighty long time for a zine! Although the zine is no longer, I may still consider publishing a compilation book of previous Bamboo Girl issues, and/or a "Pintadas" book on the tattooed Asian women's exhibit I curated a few years ago. We shall see!
But, after 7 years of grad school, and completing my Masters of Science in Acupuncture, it is time for me to grow my acupuncture practice! I am still the rad, inked, artistic gal you've always known. I've just added healer archetype to warrior woman. I'm also 2nd level reiki, and often combine reiki with my acupuncture. Wanna find out more about me and acupuncture? Come visit my website, www.AlcantaraAcupuncture.com. I will soon be changing my office from the East Midtown Area to the Flatiron district (very close to Union Square and Whole Foods!) When the change is in effect, I'll be reflecting it in my website. If you'd like to contact me to make an appointment or to find out more about what I do, you can reach me at malcantara.lac@gmail.com.
In the meantime, I still have many Bamboo Girl selacious goodies (tees, stickers, and some back issues of #11, #10, and #9 for sale.) If you'd like to order something, please email me at bamboogirl@aol.com directly, since the www.BambooGirl.com emporium links are a bit glitchy at the moment.
Here's to new beginnings!
